Sun Quotes A great idea is hidden in the Sun. People who do not love the Sun, they do not love God, either. The Sun does not want you to bow before it, neither to serve. It only bestows on you and says: “Take as much as you wish from me.” How will you repay the Sublime? The Sublime only bestows, and you should only apply what has been given to you. (Beinsa Douno) Love is like the sun; it's our life force, it transcends everything. (Lorna Byrne in her book Love from Heaven) The Sufi sees his own existence as particles of dust made visible by a ray of sunlight: neither real nor unreal. (Abu’l-Hasan Ash-Shadhili, 1175-1258 CE) I believe in the sun even when it does not shine, I believe in love even when it is not shown; I believe in God even when He does not speak. (Words scratched on one of the walls of a Jewish Ghetto in Poland) Can you find in your heart, a love is there that's sleeping... This force an energy like lightning Fills me like a living sun All forms, my past it is dissolving All life ReEmerging One The One! We are the One (Lyrics from 'ReEmerging One' in album 'Ojas - Live '82' by Ojas (Steve McLinn), 6m29s & 6m52s) Love is Sunshine, Love one another. (Perhaps from 1898 needlework by Maggie Purdie, St Cuthbert’s School?) A single sunbeam will drive away many shadows. (St Francis of Assisi) Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight. (Benjamin Franklin) The flower that follows the sun does so even on cloudy days. (Robert Leighton) The sun reminds us where we came from, and to where we will return. One five thousandth’s part [of the energy that the sun sprays on the earth every day] would provide all the energy requirements of humanity. And the fact that we haven’t tapped it directly before is really extraordinary. We... understand the principles. What we need now is to refine them so that we can do it really economically. And then the fossil fuels, or oil and coal, would simply remain in the earth and cause no more problems for the climate. (Sir David Attenborough, BBC, 49s, posted/accessed 30 November 2015) Solar power is a technology – not a fuel – it becomes less expensive with time, unlike dirty fossil fuels. (Climate Reality Project email 9 December 2015) Three things cannot be long hidden. The sun, the moon, and the truth. (Buddhist quote) Morality and religion preach that we should forget ourselves and think only of others. This is wonderful, but is it really possible? Ask the sun what it thinks. ‘O sun, you who give light and warmth and life to all creatures, do you really think only of them?’ And the sun will reply, ‘No, of course not! I think only of myself. If I pour out my blessings on all creatures, it is because I want to. That is what I enjoy doing. And this is why I do not wonder endlessly if they deserve all these gifts. I don’t care one way or the other. I leave them free and in peace, and continue to illuminate and warm them, because it gives me pleasure to do so.’ So you see, even the sun agrees that the need to think of oneself never disappears, it just takes on different forms, depending on the degree of evolution of the beings concerned. We must take care of others, yes, but for our own satisfaction, for our own development. It is impossible to forget oneself, to renounce oneself entirely. What we should do is think of ourselves in a new way, until that way becomes as altruistic and as generous as that of the sun. (O.M. Aïvanhov) The atmosphere surrounding the earth and divided by science into various layers, each with a particular name (troposphere, stratosphere, and so on), extends for several hundred kilometres into space. But beyond that, the earth has an etheric body which extends as far as the sun – it touches the sun and merges with its etheric body. For the sun too possesses an etheric body which, extending well beyond its own sphere, touches the earth, and further still, the other planets. This is why the sun and the earth are not separate, their atmospheres connect and melt into each other. And since human beings are formed in the image of the universe, they too touch the sun on the subtle plane of emanations. Even if you cannot yet sense it, tell yourself that there is a part of you, a very subtle part – your higher self – that dwells in the sun. (O.M. Aïvanhov) True religion teaches that human beings must draw closer to the light, warmth and life of the sun. That is to say, they must seek the wisdom that sheds light on and solves problems; the selfless love that beautifies, encourages and consoles; the subtle and spiritual life that renders them active, dynamic and daring, so that they may realize the kingdom of God and His justice on earth. That is why no one can fight this religion – if anyone tries to destroy it, they destroy themselves, because they restrict themselves. Once this understanding of a universal religion penetrates every mind, the whole organization of life will become universal: there will be no more divisions between human beings, no more borders or wars. Everyone must accept this universal religion, this universal brotherhood that the sun teaches us. As they come to know the sun in its sublime expression of light, warmth and life, humans will come closer and closer to the Divine, and the earth will become a garden of paradise where all will live as brothers and sisters. (O.M. Aïvanhov) The sun is the reflection of the Sun beyond the veil. (Rumi) |
