Socialism & Communism

An ape explaining 'Left Wing' simply, without using scary words like communism, anarchism, socialism. The ape says, "Apes Together Strong".

Some further definitions:

"Socialism and communism are both economic and political ideologies that advocate for social ownership and control of the means of production, but they differ in their approaches and ultimate goals. Socialism is often described as a transitional stage toward communism, where the state plays a role in managing the economy and redistributing wealth, while communism envisions a stateless, classless society with common ownership of all property."

"Ecosocialism: an economic system where production is focused on ensuring good lives for all within ecological limits, controlled democratically by workers and communities, with universal public services, an equitable distribution of income, and internationalist solidarities." (Jason Hickel, Twitter, 5 August 2022)

For me, this is far closer than capitalism to how we evolved for hundreds of thousands of years. In tribes.
Socialism and Communism may lack spirituality but its ideals are so beautiful - if we can implement them well.
These include: altruism, community, cooperation, basic human rights.

A Victorian boy like Oliver Twist holds out his empty bowl. He politely asks a sir whether we can tax the billionaires so the starving children can eat. The answer: "What are you? A filthy communist!"

Yes, basic human rights are socialism!!

And the nationalisation of socialism is so much better than the greedy privatisation of capitalism.

A graphic shows where Government spending goes. From a large pipe, almost all of it ends up in the wide mouth of a seated billionaire. A few drips manage to reach 'Public Services'.
Stop the privatisation!!

Then we add in spirituality and ecology.
This is spiritual eco-socialism.
For me this is what Jesus practised.

Meanwhile, in the capitalist USA, communist = evil.
To be cancelled and destroyed at all costs.

But what if capitalism is a death cult, which only really benefits a few billionaires?
Maybe it's time to support
Bernie Sanders and Zohran Mamdani?
And Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana? Or the Greens?
They will fight for the rights of the people - not for the billionaires.
Why not support them?

"I define left [wing] as confronting economic power and right [wing] as supporting it" (George Monbiot, The Guardian, posted and accessed 1 May 2025)

Maybe it's time to destroy capitalism?
A new money system is essential!
Why not make left wing great again?
Let us be strong together!

Quotes

Socialism is great. It is literally how we organise the economy so we can work for each other's wellbeing, rather [than] being exploited in order to contribute ever larger profits for the 1%. The idea that socialism is "unpopular" implies that we (the 99%) are inherently stupid or evil.
And thus can't democratically organise our own productive capacities or economic systems. Stating that socialism loses elections is the same as admitting that one does not want to campaign for human emancipation and potential. It's a statement of human defeat.
(Prof Julia Steinberger adaptation, Twitter, 2020)

Socialism is that evil thing that is really bad because it will make the ridiculously rich people less rich, while giving everyone else everything they need.
Who tells you it is really bad?
The ridiculously rich people of course.
(BladeoftheSun, Bluesky, posted 23 August 2025, accessed 24 August 2025)

Socialism is that thing the very rich are scared of because it would tax them out of existence to provide things like Healthcare and Housing for all. (BladeoftheSun, Bluesky, posted and accessed 3 April 2025)

Socialism spends your money on you.
Capitalism steals all your money to give it to the rich.
(BladeoftheSun, Bluesky, posted and accessed 2 April 2025)

The only thing you need to be a Socialist is to realize that the rich are far too rich, and that all their stolen wealth needs to be redistributed back to everyone else.
So a Socialist is basically anybody with a brain.
(BladeoftheSun, Bluesky, posted and accessed 31 March 2025)

Western powers couped and assassinated so many Pan-Africanist leaders because they knew a united Africa, with 1.2 billion people, socialist principles and the world's most sought-after resources, would permanently end the imperial arrangement on which capital accumulation relies. (Jason Hickel, Twitter, 12 August 2022)

To be a communist is wonderful, I am not against it, but a few points need to be clarified…
Communists already have the idea of community and fraternity, but as long as man’s mystic, religious side is not allowed to express itself, communism is not an ideal solution. (O.M. Aïvanhov, Aquarius - Herald of the Golden Age Part 1 [CW25], 1981, p.124)
