Angels in Heaven (from Gustave Doré's illustrations to Dante's Divine Comedy)
| Angelic Love
The spiritual philosopher Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov talks about how the future of relationships is about living as angels, with angelic love. He did teach this to some of his students, who were in relationships. Indeed, if we are to eventually produce babies with no sexual intercourse, but rather with exchanges of light, as he predicts, this type of love seems essential in our future. But what is angelic love?
In Christmas and Easter in the initiatic tradition (pp. 97-98), he says:
And what are Angels, what do they do? When two Angels meet, their rays of light and colour melt together in an extraordinary exchange of love. Every Angel they meet is embraced in the same way. This is the way it is with Angels; with them shame does not exist. If you are an Angel, there is no such thing as waiting for your husband with a rolling pin because you suspect him.... Angels do nothing but make exchanges of love, with no jealousy, no lust. And so, dear brothers and sisters, you see what happiness awaits you when you become Angels! I know that all men burn with the desire to love all women, and women burn to love all men... Give men and women a little more freedom and you will see whether they remain content with one wife or one husband. But at their present state of evolution it is better to avoid multiplying their experiences, it would only make them ill and disturbed. It is better to wait a while. I even advise you to wait a very long time! You do not know what joys God is preparing for you, but not for now... the way you are now is nothing extraordinary! You must wait until you are transformed, until you are resurrected. Only when you have become an Angel will you be able to approach each other without fear, to kiss and embrace each other in fusion.
Angels in Heaven
He also quotes Jesus in Mark 12:25, "For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the Angels which are in Heaven." On page 85, he comments:
How are the Angels in Heaven? They are asexual, without sexual organs, but they have other, far superior organs, thanks to which they make exchanges; exchanges are not confined to humans, they take place everywhere in the universe. No creature is deprived in that way, all are there for that purpose: to exchange love, only the form, the quality and the expression are different. If you knew how much the Angels love each other! You say, "Oh, we thought they were so pure they didn't need love." But God is Love and God penetrates all creatures, so how can any creature be without Love? One needs only to understand Love.
So, we need to develop angelic love. But don't get hung up on doing it now! Our race would die! If we neglect our animal and human natures, we can become frustrated, perhaps depressed or even violent - see here. As Susan Bratton says here (accessed 4/1/2014): "People don’t really get GOOD at sex until their 50s or 60s and you can have a hot sex life until the day you pass on. Sex is one of the most nurturing and healthy experiences you can have. So notice yourself becoming more confident and orgasmic as you move toward co-created bliss together."
More on Angelic Love
Christ actually said that there are no marriages once you come out of body. Although, there are obviously great affinities. (Lilla Bek, Relationships and Spiritual Growth, track #1, 2m36s; excerpt)
"If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give."
