Keywords

Life. Change. Destiny. Fate. Cosmic Law. Karma. Cyclicity. Evolution. Impermanence. Opportunity. Fortune. Misfortune.

Themes

The seeker sees the pattern of his/her life interwoven with the life of all things.
The seeker realises that life is precarious and nothing stays the same forever.
The seeker understands that by experiencing extremes and all manner of cycles, he/she can now locate the eye of the storm and stay there.

The Wheel of Fortune is also called the Wheel of Change or the Wheel of Life. It represents the ups and downs of life. Only at the centre - our Spirit - do we find peace. We learn to handle change with balance and equanimity.

Destiny = Fate + Free Will.
There is a blueprint to life, a certain fate.
Accept where you are. The free will is to willingly do that which you have to do. The free will is to connect with the place of peace within, your centre - to better handle the situation.
But also strive to break free. The free will is to begin to create a new destiny.
"Thank you" and "No thank you".

Comparisons

Life vs. Death.

Whilst The Wheel is change, sudden change and identity change = The Tower.

Notes & Quotes

"Accept change, for change is the essence of growth." (Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki)

"Change is the law of life. This is why, if you imagine that, wherever you go, whatever you do, people will stay where you have left them and that, at any given time you will find them at your disposal and in the same state of mind, you will be very disappointed. For them, like for you, everything moves, everything changes, and everything transforms.
So by all means, maintain relationships with various people more or less close to you. Ensure that everything that takes place between you does so in the most harmonious way. But do not rely on the stability of your relationship, because one day or another you will be forced to realize that things are not going quite the way you had thought and hoped. So concentrate on strengthening and enlightening yourself, because that is the only sure way to face all changes. If providence has given you a few good and faithful friends who you can always count on, give thanks. Continue to foster a stable and unwavering place within, so that nothing can ever stop you on your path."
(O.M. Aïvanhov)

"Good and evil are yoked together to keep the Wheel of Life turning. If only good existed the wheel would not turn. Yes, good is incapable of doing what has to be done without a helping, opposing hand from evil." [O.M. Aïvanhov)

"Since life is simply a series of joyful or unpleasant events, you may believe that ‘ups and downs’ are inevitable. However, this is untrue - your consciousness does not have to follow the ebb and flow of events. Even amid ordeals and difficulties, you can always find an element of truth or light to support you and help you move forward. If you get in the habit of elevating yourself mentally, you will one day feel immortal and truly out of the reach of evil." (O.M. Aïvanhov, Sparks of Light on Our Path, p.147)

"Some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity..." (Gilda Radner)

"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." (Alan Watts)

"The Wheel is a corrective for hubris or pride. Many packs have four figures attached to the clockwise rotating Wheel: on the left is Regnabo (= I will rule), on the right is Regnavi (= I have ruled), at the top is Regno (= I rule), and at the bottom is Sum Sine Regno (= I am without rulership). The human figures often move backwards to show they have no control over their destinies. The Wheel is often surmounted by a crowned king or sardonically by an ass." (Unknown source, possibly Sallie Nichols?)

"The Wheel will always come full circle." (Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki)

"This too shall pass". (Persian adage) [Useful to remember during suffering!]
